The first gen Camaro has become an icon over the years, and prices of pristine examples and pro touring builds have gone through the roof. If you are lucky enough to find a clean first gen, and are in the mindset of making a modern, reliable street/track day car, upgrading the suspension is one of the first things to be done. Heidts has been building full bolt on front subframe kits,  bolt on independent rear suspension and 4 link kits for the Camaro that are not only easy to install, but also provide amazing ride quality on the street and impressive performance on the autocross or road course.

Super Chevy magazine reached out to us in 2016 with a build for a ’67 Camaro, a car that was going to see mostly street miles, but also the occasional track day. We started with our PRO-G IFS subframe which comes standard with our own adjustable coilover shocks, power steering, tubular control arms and Wilwood disc brakes. Seeing as this Camaro will also see some time on the track, the brakes were upgraded to the Wilwood 13″ big brake package with 6 piston calipers. Check out the front suspension installation article on Super Chevy now, and keep an eye out for part 2. After all, you can’t upgrade the front end of a track car and not touch rear suspension!
